When I was growing up, I always marveled at my Mom who in spite of having 10 children (10!!) always managed to put on her makeup. I can’t think of a single day when I didn’t see her beautifully pulled together. It’s an inside joke among my sisters that we have to have our lipstick on when we see her because if we don’t, she’ll ask us where it is. Lucky for me, I love makeup (especially lipstick!) as much as my Mom always has.
About 10 years ago, a friend invited me to a Trish McEvoy master makeup class. If you haven’t heard of Trish McEvoy, you must check her out! Trish is a huge believer in the power of makeup and the ritual of putting it on.
Trish was recently in Chicago promoting a universal planner–a collection of makeup designed for summer–and my beautiful girlfriend and I were lucky enough to go. In a feat nothing short of magic, Trish unveiled colors that worked great on both my friend and me–her with blonde hair and blue eyes and me with my brown hair and hazel eyes. I was in awe as the African American woman sitting right next to me used the exact same palette as me. Trish showed us how to do a full-face of makeup on our own in 10 minutes or less. “I believe in looking good very quickly,” she said.
There were a couple of game-changing steps that the truly ageless Trish taught us that I wanted to share with you.
- Eye base is your friend. Trish has this incredible product called Eye Base Essentials . It comes in five colors but on the day of the our class, we were all given Bare. I swept this color across my entire eyelid…I even took it all the way up to my eyebrow and it’s incredible how this simple step completely brightens your entire face.
- Eye lift is a must. I have sampled all types of concealers but the Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift is light and provides incredible coverage over those circles that girls in their 40s tend to get. Trish suggests drawing a “triangle of light” under each eye and then tapping it into your skin. It’s magic…I swear!
- You can wear foundation in the summer! Trish McEvoy has a new product out called Correct and Even Full Face Protector. It’s in a silver stick with a makeup application ball at the tip. For summer, Trish recommends dotting your face with this product wherever you need a little coverage or even out your tone.
I’m with Trish…I just feel better with a little makeup on. Trish McEvoy makes it easy to become the best version of yourself!
