My 13-year-old daughter’s new favorite thing is to be dropped off anywhere they might be selling cosmetics. She has genetically inherited my obsession for makeup and skincare, but she seems to be a quicker study than I ever was. On a recent girls’ day out, she schooled me on the importance of a good highlighter.
“Mom, that glow you love on other people–it’s all highlight,” she said. “I can show you how to do it.”
And show me she did.
We experimented with a number of different highlight powders and sticks, but the one I loved most was from Bobbi Brown–their Illuminating Moisture Balm in Pink Glow. Right after I moisturize my skin in the morning, I squeeze a small amount of this sheer lotion into the palm of my hand. Then using just my finger tips, I rub this balm on my cheek bones up towards my outer eye creases, a touch on my forehead, and then a drop on the bridge of my nose. It’s amazing the pick-me-up this can give to very pale, Midwest, winter skin. For now, I’ve opted for the fair shade which makes my cheeks the perfect shade of pink.
Who says you can’t learn things from a seventh grader? I got “glowing” thanks to her.
